NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE YMCA
Challenging Targets
Inbuilt are involved in several YMCA projects, supporting the
client to deliver their targets for innovative, sustainable and
educational environments for young people. The redevelopment of
North Staffordshire YMCA is targeting performance across the site
of BREEAM Outstanding and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
Inbuilt's
involvement on this project includes BREEAM consultancy and
assessment, M&E concept design, energy strategy development,
management of grant applications for renewable technologies, and
research of compliant systems for inclusion in the schemes. These
services are essential to ensure the client's challenging targets
are delivered.
Beyond BREEAM
It is crucial that the benefits of sustainable buildings are
communicated to everyone involved in the process, including the
design team, contractors, building occupants and visitors;
therefore Inbuilt have developed systems to support the design team
and contractor, and strategies to communicate to the building
occupants in an accessible way.
Our Sustainability Management and Appraisal Process (S-MAP)
allows us to identify the challenges and opportunities of a
project, assign responsibilities to project team members, and give
key deadlines for delivery. Its application has proven extremely
successful in tracking the progress of a project and managing the
BREEAM credits and other sustainability objectives throughout the
construction phases to retain the rating post-completion.
"Inbuilt's approach brings added value to
standard BREEAM assessments to ensure that the highest standards of
performance are achieved on our YMCA developments. Their support to
the design team is essential to ensure the targets are met."
