HMP Littlehey II
BREEAM Strategy Management
Inbuilt provided pre-planning support and produced
a comprehensive Energy Strategy report for the development.
Inbuilt assisted the design team in delivering BREEAM Excellent
across a development of twelve buildings including four house
blocks, a Sports Hall, Kitchen, Administration building, Education
and Multi-faith facilities, Segregation unit, Visitors centre,
Reception and Healthcare facilities and Workshops at HMP Littlehey
II Young Offender's Institute.
The additional challenges presented by individual
sub-contractors for the buildings required significant management
of the BREEAM strategy, which differed for each building. Inbuilt
also coordinated the required Ecological and Arboricultural
surveys.
Environmental Features
The diverse site wide strategy included:
- Site wide biomass heating strategy
- Natural ventilation strategy
- Modular construction in houseblocks
- Responsibly sourced materials
- Rainwater recycling
- SUDs strategy
- Building services whole life performance analysis
- Outstanding CCS scores and site waste management
"Dealing with Inbuilt and their specialist team has been a
delight; they would review and recommend design changes and
constantly reappraise the facts they were presented with until we
were able to raise the challenging MoJ expectation of BREEAM 'Very
Good' to 'Excellent'."
